The Friedreich Ataxia Research Association is currently seeking Expressions of Interest for Board positions.
These roles are voluntary.
Background
After a period of transition with three long-term Board members retiring, we are currently seeking new leaders with an emphasis on individuals from outside of Victoria. (Our current Board has one Brisbane based and three Melbourne based Directors.)
Our organisation is ‘inverse’ in structure with a single full-time employee, one part time employee and outsourced social media support; our Board is larger in number than the executive function.
The Role
Whilst the traditional Board responsibilities of oversight and governance remain critical, the implication of our structure is that the primary focus of Board Members is to bring access to diverse networks and drive fundraising activity.
Some examples of these responsibilities include:
Participate and drive engagement in either our cornerstone Lend Us Some Muscle fundraising initiative or another major campaign.
Run at least one Community Fundraising initiative a year.
Attend the following fara events (when local):
Comedy for a Cause
Cocktail Fundraiser
Patient & Family Information Forum.
Source & contribute Silent Auction items to 3b.
Support promotion of fara initiatives through personal & professional networks including:
Driving event ticket sales
Promoting Raffle/Prize Draw ticket sales.
We hold up to ten meetings each year with at least one being face to face in Melbourne. (All expenses associated with this meeting are covered by fara.)
