Grant Title: Friedreich Ataxia Clinic at Monash Medical Centre - Operational Cost Support.

Summary:

Since its establishment in 2000, the Clinic has been a vital resource for individuals and families affected by Friedreich Ataxia. Each year, it delivers 15 formal clinics, including three dedicated paediatric sessions, supporting more than 120 people annually.

The Clinic is built on the principles of person-centred care—treating each individual with dignity, respect, and ensuring they are actively involved in decisions about their health.

During an appointment, patients may access a comprehensive range of assessments and reviews, including echocardiography, neurology, cardiology, and allied health services such as physiotherapy, speech pathology, and occupational therapy.

In addition to direct care, the Clinic provides essential documentation to support NDIS plans and Review of a Decision requests, ensuring patients and families receive the assistance they need.
